Croithlí Single Malt Irish Whiskey brings premium single malt craftsmanship to a price point more commonly associated with upgraded blends

The Crolly Distillery has launched Croithlí Single Malt Irish Whiskey (Triple Cask), a new signature expression crafted to challenge one of the biggest assumptions in Irish whiskey — that great single malt must come with a premium price.

Officially unveiled during the Croithlí Summer Whiskey Gathering in the Donegal Gaeltacht, the new release has been developed to deliver the depth, balance and complexity expected of premium single malts while occupying a price point more commonly associated with upgraded blends.

It represents a significant step for the award-winning Donegal distillery, whose reputation has until now been built around ultra-premium limited releases, single cask bottlings and the acclaimed Coillín Darach Oak Series.

While those expressions celebrate exceptional casks and oak exploration, Croithlí Single Malt Irish Whiskey has been created as a signature expression of the distillery — introducing more people to the Croithlí style and sitting at the heart of the distillery’s long-term ‘Make it a Croithlí’ strategy.

Double distilled and masterfully crafted in the Gaeltacht distillery, the whiskey is matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks before being finished in three carefully selected virgin oak casks to create a layered, balanced and characterful single malt bottled at 40% ABV.

Rather than creating another whiskey destined primarily for collectors, the founders set out to craft one that would earn its place behind the bar and in living room drinks cabinets — a whiskey bartenders would proudly recommend, restaurants would confidently list and consumers would actively seek out because of the quality in the glass rather than the price on the menu.

The launch is accompanied by Croithlí’s long-term ‘Make it a Croithlí’ strategy, reflecting the distillery’s ambition to become the single malt people ask for by name in bars, restaurants and homes across Ireland and beyond.

Co-founder Conor McMenamin said the distillery’s ambition had always been clear.

“From the outset, we wanted to create a whiskey that could stand proudly alongside Ireland’s most popular single malts while remaining accessible enough that, when someone asks ‘Which whiskey?’, the answer is always ‘Make it a Croithlí’.”

“Every decision we made — from double distillation and cask selection to the final bottling strength — was about achieving balance, flavour and character without compromise.”

“Our limited releases will always allow us to explore exceptional casks and bold new ideas. This is different. This is the whiskey that introduces people to the story of Croithlí whiskeys.”

The launch also marks the beginning of a new demand-led growth strategy for Croithlí.

Rather than relying solely on traditional wholesale distribution, the distillery is working directly with bars, restaurants and hotels while inviting customers to help determine where the whiskey should appear next through surveys, tasting events and local activations across Ireland and beyond.

The strategy is simple: build demand first, then work with bars, restaurants and hospitality venues in the places where customers already want to order Croithlí.

Crafted and bottled at The Crolly Distillery in the Donegal Gaeltacht, Croithlí Single Malt Irish Whiskey (Triple Cask) becomes the signature expression of the Croithlí range, complementing the distillery’s limited single cask releases while creating a new gateway into the brand.
